Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Fightin Phils gave up 13 hits and allowed five runs as they lost 5-3 on Thursday night.
Perci Garner struggled out of the gate as he allowed five runs in four innings in a 5-3 win for the Thunder on Thursday night. The Fightin Phils are now 15-15 on the season and Garner received his second loss of the season.
A two-run home run by Thunder designated hitter Rob Segedin off Perci Garner in the bottom of the first inning gave Trenton a 2-0 lead over the Fightin Phils. The Fightins scored a run off Thunder starter Graham Stoneburner in the top of the third as Edgar Duran hit a RBI triple to cut the lead to 2-1. Trenton added a run off Garner in the bottom of the third inning and two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 5-1 lead and chase Garner from the game.
Tyler Knigge threw two scoreless innings in relief of Garner and Hector Neris pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning. The Fightins scored two runs off Stoneburner as Brock Stassi and Tommy Joseph hit back-to-back RBI doubles to cut the Thunder lead to 5-3.
