Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Corpus Christi- The Corpus Christi Rayz of the Central Hockey League today announce the signing of right-winger Jerod Bina. Bina joins the Rayz as they prepare for a crucial three-game road trip beginning Wednesday night in El Paso.

The 6'3, 200lbs native of Grand Forks, ND has played his entire professional career with the Wichita Thunder. He was released on January 26 after posting a goal and 4 assists in 25 games. Last season, Bina skated in 43 games for the Thunder posting a career-high 11 goals to go along with 12 assists.

"Jerod will give us some depth and options," said Head Coach Al Sims. " He's a solid third-line forward who thinks defensively. His size alone makes him effective both as a checker and penalty killer."

Bina, 29, has 31 goals and 47 assists in 172 games over four seasons. Prior to turning pro, Bina played four years at division 1 Bemidji State (Bemidji, MN) posting 33 goals and 46 assists in 89 games. He also split the 1992-93 season in juniors with the Des Moines Buccaneers and Wisconsin Capitols of the USHL.

The Rayz leave tomorrow morning for El Paso embarking on a three-game road trip that could determine their playoff fate. The Rayz and Buzzards will square off Wednesday, followed by the final meetings of the season with the Odessa Jackalopes Thursday night and the Amarillo Gorillas on Saturday.
