SCORPIONS ON THE RADIO – The Scorpions are teaming up this season with SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal to bring you all of the Scorpions action on the radio. Mike Sheehan is in his first season as the Voice of the Scorpions. All three of this week's games are scheduled to air on SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal.

SCORPIONS HOCKEY TALK THIS WEEK – The Scorpions' weekly radio talk show airs tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. on SportsRadio 610 The Sports Animal and on location at the Corner Pocket, 9603 Lomas NE. Scorpions Hockey Talk features Scorpions coach Bill McDonald and the "Voice of the Scorpions" Mike Sheehan, along with special guests each week. This week's guests are Adam Robbins and Jasmin Roy.

COMING EVENTS AT TINGLEY – The Scorpions return home from their seven-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 22 when they host Wichita for Rainbo Bread Youth Jersey Night. The first 1,000 fans receive a FREE youth jersey courtesy of Rainbo Bread. Faceoff is 7:05 p.m.

SCORPIONS RECAP

AMARILLO 4, SCORPIONS 2 – The Gorillas took their second win over the Scorpions in a six-day span with a 4-2 victory at Tingley Coliseum last Tuesday, the Scorpions final home game before embarking on their seven-game road trip. Shaun Peet scored his first goal of the season on the power play and Tyler Baines added a power play goal in the third period. Luciano Caravaggio stopped 25 shots in goal.

MEMPHIS 5, SCORPIONS 1 – The RiverKings claimed the first-ever meeting between the clubs by a 5-1 score on the strength of two power play goals and a shorthanded tally. After Memphis scored two goals 23 seconds apart in the first period, Tyler Baines halved the deficit with a blistering shot from the high slot later in the period. But Memphis scored shorthanded in the second period and added two more goals in the third. Scott Myers made 28 saves for the Scorpions.

BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT 4, SCORPIONS 3 (SO) – The Scorpions led 2-0 entering the third period but the Mudbugs rallied for a 4-3 shootout win. Tyler Baines led the Scorpions with a goal and an assist. Vladimir Hartinger notched his first goal in a Scorpions uniform and Arturs Kupaks added a power play tally. The Mudbugs won on a goal by Forbes MacPherson in the fifth round of the shootout to take this season's only meeting between the teams. Scott Myers stopped 36 shots in goal for the Scorpions.

SCORPIONS 3, FORT WORTH 1 – Ben Gorewich scored twice against the team he spent the 2000-01 season with to give coach Bill McDonald his 400th coaching victory in a 3-1 victory over the Brahmas yesterday. Gorewich broke a 1-1 tie with 3:25 left in the period and then added an empty net goal with 31 seconds remaining to seal the win. Tyler Baines tied the game in the second period, scoring for the sixth consecutive game. Luciano Caravaggio turned aside 21 of 22 shots.

SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS

LUBBOCK – The Scorpions are 3-0-1 in their last four games against the Cotton Kings but the home team has won all eight games in the series. After losing five straight games, Lubbock has responded with two impressive wins at Austin on Friday and at home over Amarillo on Saturday. Thursday's game is the final one this season between the teams. Blaz Emersic continues to lead Lubbock in scoring with 53 points (23g-30a). He has 14 points (7g-7a) against the Scorpions. Dave MacIntyre (12g-23a-35pts) is heating up with seven points in his last five games. Mike Brusseau (19-16-4, 2.92 GAA) handles most of the goaltending duties for the Cotton Kings.

LAREDO – Since starting the season 3-4-2, the Bucks are 27-7-3 in their last 37 games. The Bucks boast a lot of offensive firepower, leading the CHL by averaging 4.24 goals per game, more than half a goal more than the next closest club. All-Stars Eric Schneider (34g-42a-76pts) and Chris Grenville (32g-39a-71pts) are second and third in the league in scoring respectively. Former Scorpion Dave Gilmore has crept into the top 20 with 52 points (21g-31a). Defensemen Michel Periard leads all blueliners with 16 goals and is third with 47 points. Goalie Lance Leslie is 22-9-4 with a 2.78 GAA. The teams split two meetings in November at Tingley Coliseum, with the Scorpions winning 3-2 in a shootout on Nov. 8 and the Bucks claiming a 7-2 win on Nov. 26.

AUSTIN – A busy weekend concludes on Saturday with a visit to the league's top team. Austin has lost eight games all season and is 20-3-0 at home. Kelly Smart leads the Ice Bats with 55 points (25g-30a), followed by Dan Price with 47 points (21g-26a). As offensive-minded as Laredo is, the Ice Bats focus on defense as they lead the league allowing less than two goals per game. All-Star starting goalie Matt Barnes leads the CHL with 26 wins, and is second with a 1.85 GAA. The teams met at Tingley Coliseum on Dec. 13, with Austin rallying in the second period to take a 3-2 win. The Ice Bats also have the league's top penalty killing unit at 90.2 percent.

McDONALD NOTCHES 400 – Scorpions coach Bill McDonald celebrated his 50th birthday yesterday by picking up his 400th career coaching victory. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native is 400-276-83 in 12 years of coaching. The win came in Fort Worth, where he coached the CHL's Fire from 1995 to 1997, winning a championship in 1997, and the Brahmas, whom he led to the WPHL's President's Cup finals in 1998.

STINGERS – Tyler Baines has scored in a season-high six consecutive games... He has 12 points in that span and is a team-leading +7 this season... Chris Richards had goals in four straight games from Oct. 19 to 31... Ben Gorewich has six goals and ten points in 14 games since his trade from Memphis in early January... The Scorpions will travel 4,556 miles on their seven-game road trip, 2,177 of which was completed last weekend and 1,805 of which will be this week's jaunt... The Scorpions have the fourth-best penalty killing unit in the CHL at an 86.6 percent success rate.
