Rays Raise Money for CMN Tonight; Roster Changes Made Prior to Game

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays host the Charlotte Checkers tonight at the North Charleston Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.

It's Children's Miracle Network Night at the game as the Stingrays look to raise money for CMN. Players will be wearing specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off live after the game with all proceeds going to CMN. When you enter the game, don't forget to pick up your box of Mac 'N Cheese to "Make Noise for the Girls and Boys" of CMN throughout the game. As you leave, barrels from the Low Country Food Bank will be at every exit if you wish to donate back your box of Mac 'N Cheese.

In roster news, Stingray signed forward Ryan Toomey from the Cincinnati Cyclones. Toomey, 25, joined the Cyclones this season upon completion of his time at Mercyhurst College where he collected 11 points (5g, 6a) in 13 games this year and overall had 67 points (32g, 35a) in 108 games. With Cincinnati, the Bolton, Ont. native had five points (1g, 4a) in nine games. Prior to turning pro, Toomey played two years in the OPJHL totaling 80 points (31g, 49a) in 103 games with the Vaughan Vipers and Wexford Raiders.

Toomey will not play tonight, but is expected to join the team in time for the trip to Florida next week.

Also, prior to the game today, forward Johann Kroll was called up to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. Kroll, fresh from his trip to the All-Star game in Reading last week, is currently second on the Stingrays in both assists (21) and power play assists (12) and is tied for 22nd among all defensemen in points with 21.

Last time out The Stingrays were dealt their worst loss of the 2008-09 season last night, falling at home to the Florida Everblades 7-1. Charlotte, meanwhile, edged the Gwinnett Gladiators last night in the Peach State, 3-2.
