Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The 2008 Kelly Cup champion Cincinnati Cyclones announced today that they have completed a trade with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) bringing forward Jacob Dietrich to the Queen City in exchange for the rights to forward Ryan Toomey. The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.

The trade was part of a three way deal between Cincinnati, South Carolina and Victoria. The Cyclones dealt Toomey to South Carolina, the Stingrays shipped future considerations to Victoria and the Salmon Kings traded Dietrich to the Cyclones.

Dietrich, 21, is a rookie forward who has played this season with Victoria and collected 13 points on seven goals and six assists in 35 games. Last season, he finished his junior career with Portland (WHL), netting 16 goals and six assists for 22 points in 54 games. He was the captain of the Portland squad.

The six-foot-one, 202 pounder from Deloraine, Manitoba played four years of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) between Moose Jaw, Lethbridge and Portland. Jacob played in 270 games as a junior, scoring 36 goals and adding 17 assists for 53 points to go with 189 penalty minutes.

Dietrich is expected in Cincinnati early next week and should accompany the squad on its two week southern road swing.
