
Jackals Outlast Devils In 6-4 Win

Elmira, NY- After a 5-1 loss last night to Trenton, the Jackals returned the favor beating the Devils 6-4 at First Arena in front of 3,538 fans. Moises Gutierrez and Brandon Roach each scored a pair of goals in the Jackals 24th win of the season.
The Devils didn't wait long to break the scoreless tie, 4:51 into the first Jeff Prough netted his 16th of the season. The Jackals would strike back with a Shawn Snider goal at the 7:54 mark. Wes Cunningham and Pierre-Luc Faubert got the assists on the play. The Jackals took their first lead of the weekend with a Nathan Lutz power play goal at the 11:18 mark. Paul McIlveen and Pierre-Luc Faubert added the helpers. The Jackals then picked up a two goal lead on a Moises Gutierrez tally at the 15:15 mark, Korchinski and Carisio assisted.
The second period was full of fireworks. 1:44 in Brandon Roach unleashed his second goal of the game with Korchinski assisting to extend the lead to 4-1. Moments later Thomas Harrison fought Hank Carisio. One second later Guillaume Lepine fought Kevin Cormier. Later in the period at the 14:13 mark Eric Castonguay netted his 13th of the season. The Jackals retook the three goal lead at the 16:42 mark on Moises Gutierrez's second of the contest. On the power play Chris Kochinksi passed the puck to Benoit Doucet who then found the open Gutierrez who riffled it home. Trenton ended the second period with a Scott Bartlett tally at the 18:23 mark.
The Devils then brought the game back to a one goal deficit when Thomas Harrison netted his third of the season at 8:08 of the final frame. The Jackals extended the lead back to two with Brandon Roach's second of the game, Yetman and McIlveen received the assists.
Jackals goalkeeper Michael Teslak was awarded the 28 save win, while Gerald Coleman was handed only his third loss of the season. With the win the Jackals improve to 24-19-1-3 while the Devils fall to 22-17-1-2.
Next Up: The Jackals return to home ice next Friday when they host the Johnstown Chiefs at 7:35 p.m. On Saturday the Jackals travel to Wheeling, before Sundays 4:05 p.m. tilt with Trenton at First Arena.
