Toledo Walleye News Release

(Toledo, OH) - Toledo Walleye have released defenseman Phil Rauch at his request, due to personal reasons. Forward Alden Hirschfeld has been loaned to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL.

"We wish Phil all the best going forward in his life," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "He has been a great player and person for this organization over the past three years and his presence around this team and on the ice. He will be missed. He has basically been working two full-time jobs and it is time for him to concentrate more on one of them."

Rauch appeared in 169 totals games in Toledo; second most to Kyle Rogers in Walleye history. The Toledo native posted five goals, 19 assists, and 138 penalty minutes over his career. He was a plus eight in those games. The 26 year old defenseman had one assist and was a minus one in 26 games played this season.

Hirschfeld heads back to Grand Rapids, where he collected an assist in two games played earlier this season. The Sylvania native is tied with Travis Novak for second on the Walleye in scoring this season with 24 points (6G, 18A).

The Toledo Walleye return home Saturday, February 15 against Cincinnati. Get your tickets by calling 419-725-WALL or online at www.toledowalleye.com. The Toledo Walleye play all of their home games at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo. You can catch every Walleye hockey game live on Fox Sports radio 1230 and all 36 home games live on BCSN.
