Islanders Assign Andrey Pedan to Thunder

Stockton, Calif. - The Thunder's AHL affiliate, the New York Islanders, have assigned defenseman Andrey Pedan to Stockton, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Rich Kromm announced Thursday.

Pedan, 20, is a 2011 third round draft pick of the New York Islanders. The Moscow, Russia native has played in eight games with Bridgeport this season and has played in 17 AHL games total in his career. He has posted five points on two goals and three assists this season.

Pedan turned pro at the end of the 2012-13 season following this third year in the OHL with the Guelph Storm. He posted 96 points in 174 games with Guelph and added 16 points in 17 playoff games during three trips to the postseason. Pedan posted the most penalty minutes of any player in the OHL with 145 during his final season in the league.

The Russian defenseman represented his country at the 2011 IIHF U-18 World Championships in Germany, posting two points on two assists in six games as Russia defeated Canada for the bronze medal. Pedan recorded both his assists in Russia's 5-2 win over Finland in the quarterfinals.

Pedan joins the Thunder in Anchorage ahead of their five games in seven days against the Alaska Aces. He will be available to play for the Thunder on Friday.

Friday's game on February 7th is part of the ECHL's Hockey Heritage weekend and will be televised locally and nationally. The game will be carried live in the Stockton market through Antenna TV (KTXL.2), FOX40's digital channel, and on tape-delay by Comcast Sportsnet California and NHL Network on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
