Matchup:
The Solar Bears return home to the Amway Center today after a grueling four-game road trip that ended with a 5-3 win over the Florida Everblades on Tuesday night. Orlando jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the contest, as D Connor Goggin, F Taylor Matson, and D Blake Kessel all scored in just over four minutes and Orlando took the advantage into the first intermission. Florida got on the board with a power play goal early in the second, but F Jake Hauswirth answered for Orlando on a slap shot from the blue line as the Solar Bears lead 4-1 after two. A pair of third period goals drew the Everblades back to within one, but with time winding down in the frame F Scott Tanski collected an empty net goal on a shot from the neutral zone as the Solar Bears held on for the 5-3 victory. The Gladiators have been inactive since last Saturday's contest against the Solar Bears, earning a closely contested 3-2 win over Orlando. Trailing 1-0 in the second period, forward C.J. Severyn snapped home a rebound goal to tie the game at 1-1. Gwinnett answered with a 2-on-1 goal later in the frame, but Severyn knocked home his second goal of the contest to even the score. Just over one minute into the third period, F Marshall Everson scored what proved to be the game-winner when he wristed a shot into the top left corner of the net while on the power play as the Gladiators earned a 3-2 win over the Solar Bears. Orlando is 5-2-0-2 against Gwinnett this season and 3-0-0-0 against the Gladiators at the Amway Center.
