Nailers Introduce Human Curling

Wheeling Nailers News Release

WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens, have announced a new between periods promotion for an upcoming game. On Friday, February 14th, the Nailers will debut Human Curling, to go along with the Olympic theme for the weekend.

Between the second and third periods on February 14th, four teams of four players each will take the ice at WesBanco Arena, beginning the event. Each team will be equipped with one pusher, one sweeper, and two sledders. The pusher will launch the sledders down the ice from one face-off circle to the opposite face-off circle in the neutral zone, with hopes of landing as close to the dot as possible. Both teams (there will be two separate matches occurring at once) will receive two pushes per end, and the winning team will be whichever side scores three points first, or whichever side is ahead with 13 minutes remaining on the intermission clock.

Currently, the Nailers are in search of their four teams to participate. In order to play, the cost per team is $45, and that total will cover the cost of the four game tickets for that night. The puck will drop at 7:00 on Friday, February 14th, as Wheeling plays host to Reading.

The Wheeling Nailers will play a pair of road games against the Reading Royals on Friday and Saturday, before returning home for games on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday next week.

For ticket information call the Nailers office at 304-234-GOAL or online at wheelingnailers.com.
