Rattie, Wotherspoon To Play In World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

Portland Winterhawks forward Ty Rattie and defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon have been selected to play for Team Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Timmins, Ontario from December 29, 2009 to January 4, 2010.

Team Pacific will be comprised of players from British Columbia and Alberta. Also playing in the tournament will be Team West (Saskatchewan and Manitoba), Team Ontario, Team Quebec, Team Atlantic (New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island) and teams representing the U.S., Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden.

In 17 games this season, Rattie has three goals and seven assists for 10 points. He was Portland's first round pick, second overall in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. Wotherspoon has seen action in 10 games this season, registering one goal and one assist. He was drafted by the Winterhawks in the second round, 23rd overall, of the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft. Both players will miss time with the Winterhawks to take part in the tournament.
