Raptors 905 (11-10), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, opened their five game homestand with a 135-125 victory over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (13-11) Thursday evening. The 905 were led by Jeff Dowtin Jr. who contributed a season-high 26 points, five rebounds, and nine assists while Trevelin Queen led Fort Wayne with a game-high 33 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
The Raptors 905 took control of the game from tip-off, opening the game on a 10-3 run before the Mad Ants returned with their own 9-0 run. The two teams traded baskets throughout the quarter, however, the 905 were able to take a nine-point lead as they ended the quarter 40-31. Fort Wayne fought back in the second quarter bringing the game within one, but the home team was able to extend their lead as they closed the first half 72-60.
Coming out ofhalftime, theMad Ants attempted to cut into the deficit; outscoring the 905 by three, and bringing the game within nine to enter the final frame. Two-way guards Dowtin Jr. and Queen lead the way for their respective teams in the fourth, but it was the 905 who came away with the victory in Mississauga.
The 905 were paced by Sterling Brown who put up 17 points, six rebounds, two steals, and a season-high eight assists in the victory. The Mad Ants saw complementary scoring from Justin Anderson who added 29 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and a block in the loss.
The two teams meet again Saturday afternoon to complete their season series, tip-off scheduled for 2:00 pm.
