Raptors 905 Fall to Long Island in OT

Raptors 905 (4-3), the NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, fell to the Long Island Nets (3-4) 128-132 in the first of two matchups. The 905 were led by Jeff Dowtin Jr. putting up his first double-double of the season with 23 points, six rebounds, 10 assists, and a steal. Chris Chiozza led the Nets with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 19 assists, three steals, and two blocks in the victory.

The Raptors 905 opened the ball game strong on a 19-4 run before the Nets went on a 14-3 run of their own. With the game tied to open the second quarter, the two teams traded baskets back and forth with the 905 taking the two-point advantage going into the break. Gabe Brown (17 points, 11 rebounds) and Saben Lee 23 points, nine assists) combined for 28 first-half points against the Nets.

Coming out of the break, the 905 were able to find their rhythm as they outscored the visitors 40-28, bringing their lead to 14 going into the final frame. The Nets mounted a comeback bid in the fourth, outscoring the 905 30-16 and tying the game up at 124. The two teams entered overtime with the newly implemented a Target Score of adding seven points to the tied score for overtime games. The Target Score was set to 131 and the first team to hit or surpass wins. The Nets were able to outscore the 905 in overtime 8-4, taking the first win in Mississauga.

The 905 were paced by Reggie Perry who put up his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks. The Nets saw complementary scoring from Kameron Hankerson who added 32 points, three rebounds, three assists, and four blocks in the match.

The two teams meet again to complete their showcase cup series Wednesday, tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.
