Rampage's Passmore recalled by Phoenix Coyotes

SAN ANTONIO - Oct. 10, 2005 - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that their parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, have recalled goaltender Steve Passmore from the American Hockey League team.

The 32-year-old Passmore has played in two games for the Rampage, posting a 1-1-0 record and a .889 save percentage. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Passmore backstopped 174 AHL games with four teams (Cape-Breton, Hamilton, Lowell, Norfolk and San Antonio) collecting a 68-78-23 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .915 save percentage. Passmore, a 1998-99 AHL Second Team All-Star, won the league's Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award for exemplifying qualities of sportsmanship, determination and dedication to hockey for the 1996-97 season.

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has played in 93 NHL games over parts of six seasons with Edmonton, Chicago and Los Angeles. In his NHL career, Passmore posted a 23-44-12 record with a 2.79 GAA and .895 save percentage. His best NHL season came in 2001-02 when he registered an 8-5-4 record, 2.26 GAA and .904 save percentage in 23 games with the Chicago Blackhawks.

Passmore joined the Coyotes this summer when he signed as a free agent on Aug. 19. He was originally drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in the 10th round (196th overall) of the 1992 Entry Draft.

The Rampage also announced that they signed David Cornacchia to an AHL contract, and released left wing Leon Hayward. Cornacchia has one assist in two games with the Rampage so far this season.
