Atlanta Assigns Kloucek to Wolves

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned defenseman TOMAS KLOUCEK (KLOH-chehk) to the Chicago Wolves. In addition, the Wolves have assigned center JARED ROSS to the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL.

The 25-year-old KLOUCEK accrued two penalty minutes in the Thrashers season-opener. Overall, he has registered eight assists, 10 points and 250 penalty minutes in 141 career National Hockey League games with the New York Rangers (2000-2002), Nashville Predators (2002-2004) and Atlanta (2003-2005).

Last season, the 6-foot-3-inch, 225-pound blueliner played in his native Czech Republic, collecting three goals, six points and 64 penalty minutes in 48 games with Slavia Praha, Trinec Ocelari and Liberec Bili Tygri.

KLOUCEK notched two points and eight penalty minutes during the 2000 playoffs to help the Hartford Wolf Pack win the Calder Cup Championship.

ROSS, who did not suit up for Chicago's season-opener last Friday, made his professional debut last season with the United Hockey League's Motor City Mechanics, notching five assists and eight points in 12 games. He also finished a four-year career at the University of Alabama-Huntsville by registering a career-high 22 goals and 40 points in 30 games.

Overall, ROSS collected 72 goals and 158 points in 133 games spanning four seasons with the Chargers.
