San Antonio Rampage News Release
WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Six Rampage players recorded multi-point efforts and David LeNeveu made 32 saves to snap Manitoba's six-game win streak with a 5-2 victory Friday night at the MTS Centre.
Coming off a 4-1 loss to Manitoba on Wednesday night, LeNeveu claimed his third win in his last four starts.
The Rampage jumped to a 4-0 lead after a scoreless opening period with the French-Canadian line of Yanick Lehoux, Joel Perrault and Pascal Rheaume contributing to two of the goals.
After Don MacLean scored his 13th goal of the season at the 5:27 mark of the second period, Lehoux, the Rampage's leading scorer, found the back of the net off a centering feed from Perrault 19 seconds later to give San Antonio a two-goal cushion and his team-leading 19th goal on the year.
Bill Thomas, who will represent the Rampage in the 2007 AHL All-Star Classic later this month, and Tyler Redenbach assisted on Jeff Taffe's 13th goal of the season four-minutes later.
Rheaume, an AHL Calder Cup and NHL Stanley Cup winner, teamed up with Perrault and Lehoux again at the 19:01 mark in the second period to give San Antonio the four-goal lead and tie a franchise recorded for most goals scored in a period.
Manitoba's Mike Keane attempted to rally the Moose in the third period assisting on their first goal at 9:07 before cutting the Rampage's lead in half with 6:28 remaining in regulation.
LeNeveu kept a cool nerve in the final frame as the Rampage were outshot 16-5 in the third period. The line of Taffe, Thomas, and Redenbach put Manitoba's rally on ice and insured the win with an empty-net goal at the 19:12 mark.
