GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled goaltender Joey MacDonald from his conditioning assignment with the Grand Rapids Griffins. As a result, the Griffins today signed goaltender Dominic Vicari to a professional tryout.

In two games with the Griffins since his Jan. 12 assignment, MacDonald went 1-1 with a 2.93 GAA and a 0.898 save percentage, highlighted by Saturday's 27-save, 4-3 shootout victory over league-leading Wilkes-Barre. He's appeared in four games with the Red Wings this season, showing a 0-2-1 record with a 3.67 GAA and a 0.857 save percentage.

Vicari, a 22-year-old native of Clinton Township, Mich., has been playing for the Griffins' ECHL affiliate, the Toledo Storm. In 18 games, the former Michigan State Spartan has compiled a 6-10-0-0 record with a 3.52 GAA and a 0.891 save percentage.

Vicari will be in uniform for the Griffins tonight when they visit the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m., while MacDonald is expected to dress for Detroit's 7 p.m. game at Columbus.
