Brandon Prust scored a goal and got an assist to lead the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights past the Iowa Stars 3-1 Friday night at the Civic Auditorium. The Knights have won five straight and three consecutive games to open an eight-game home stand.

The Knights opened the scoring at 9:05 of the first period as Brandon Prust found an open Andrei Taratukhin in the slot. He backhanded a shot past Stars goaltender Tobias Stephan for his twelfth goal of the year. Taratukhin has now earned a point in seven straight games.

With 1:37 remaining in the second period, Iowa's Junior Lessard evened the score at 1-1 with a hard shot from the slot that eluded Curtis McElhinney.

Carsen Germyn restored the Knights advantage, pounding in a rebound from a Brett Palin point shot 40 seconds into the final frame. The Knights extended the lead at the 6:06 point of the third period. Off a face off in the Stars' zone, the puck trickled innocently to the Iowa net where Prust punched in the puck to give the Knights a two-goal lead.

McElhinney finished the game with 21 saves to earn his team record-tying fifth straight win.

The Knights are now 26-13-3-0.

Three Stars: 1. Brandon Prust (OMA) - 1 Goal, 1 Assist; 2. Carsen Germyn (OMA) - Game-winning goal; 3.Curtis McElhinney (OMA) - 21 saves.
