
Rampage Top Chops 3-1

Des Moines, IA - The Rampage come from behind for only the second time this season to top the Iowa Chops 3-1 at Wells Fargo Arena Saturday night. The Rampage took down the West Division's top ranked team, the Milwaukee Admirals, last night and fought their way to back-to-back wins beating the second ranked team - Iowa - tonight.
After a scoreless opening frame Iowa got on the board first when Drew Miller took a shot from the right wall and was accidentally tipped in by a Rampage player in front of the net in an attempt to interrupt the pass. The puck snuck in the five hole past Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman at the 6:44 mark in the second period to give the Chops a 1-0 advantage.
Prior to tonight's game the Rampage had only won one game when their opponent had scored first coming on January 9 against the Milwaukee Admirals with an overtime win.
Brett MacLean, who will represent the Rampage at the 2009 AHL All-Star game this Monday, tied the game 1-1 with a power-play goal at the 9:27 mark in the second period. Chad Kolarik and Alexander Nikulin were credited with the assists. Nikulin tallied his fourth assist in as many games.
Continuing in the second frame, Rampage rookie David Schlemko fought for the puck in the slot and found the back of the net through traffic to put the Rampage on top 2-1 at the 14:10 mark. Joel Perrault and David Spina were credited with the helpers on the Rampage's second power-play goal of the night and eventually the game winner. The Rampage outshot the Chops 17-2 in the second period.
Almost half way through the closing period, and short handed, Perrault scored with a wrister past Chops' goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur stick side to extend the Rampage lead 3-1. The Rampage are now 20-27-0-1.
The Rampage will return to the AT&T Center Thursday night after the annual AHL All-Star break to host the Binghamton Senators at 7:00 pm. Thursday is dollar hot dog night presented by Ticket 760.
