
B-Sens Announce Roster Moves

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators recalled today right-wingers Derek Couture and Chaz Johnson from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL and released forward Josh Aspenlind from his 25-game professional tryout agreement. In addition, the Ottawa Senators reassigned today defenseman Geoff Waugh from Binghamton to Elmira.
Couture, 24, has three goals, eight assists and 16 penalty minutes in 11 games with Elmira this season, including Elmira's lone goal in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Trenton Devils last night. The Calgary, Alberta, native has 188 games of American Hockey League experience over three seasons with Omaha (2005-06, 2006-07) and Quad City (2007-08), registering 20 goals, 26 assists and 293 penalty minutes.
Johnson, 24, has one goal, two assists and 43 penalty minutes in 26 games with Binghamton this season. He was assigned to Elmira on Friday after missing the last 13 games for Binghamton with a back injury and registered no points and two penalty minutes in the Jackals loss to the Devils. The Montreal, Quebec, native scored 23 goals and added 24 assists for 47 points in 60 games with Elmira during the 2007-08 season.
Waugh, 25, has no goals, two assists and 21 penalty minutes in 19 games with Binghamton this season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native missed the B-Sens' first 13 games this season with a foot injury. He played in his 100th AHL game on Friday night in Binghamton's 4-1 loss to Albany. Waugh was selected by the Dallas Stars in the third round (78th overall) of the 2002 NHL entry draft.
Aspenlind, 22, played in his second AHL game in Binghamton's 4-1 loss at Albany Friday night. He registered no points or penalty minutes. He currently leads the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL in scoring with 34 points (14+20).
