Rampage to honor fire and police with Salute to the Badges Night
January 13, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
The San Antonio Rampage will hold a press conference to honor the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday for the greater San Antonio community. The event is a joint effort between the San Antonio Fire and Police departments and the Rampage to raise awareness for the Alamo Area Fire and Police Memorial (AAFPM) wall.
The AAFPM is dedicated to building a wall in the memory of local servants that have given their lives for the greater San Antonio community. The wall will feature names of both full time and volunteer men and women from local firefighters and law enforcement who have died on duty.
The organization received approval by the Office of the Secretary of State of Texas February, 19 2002 with a threefold purpose:
1. To educate the public about the dangers encountered by our firefighters and law enforcement officers;
2. To compile and maintain historical information relating to each case as provided by their department, their survivors and their co-workers; and
3. To permanently honor the ultimate sacrifices firefighters and law enforcement officers have made for the Bexar County communities while providing the means to document and honor all future occurrences.
The event preludes the Rampage's Salute to the Badges Night on January 21. The team will honor both the Fire and Police departments by wearing specially designed jerseys that will be auctioned off to the public following the game. The Rampage have set a goal to raise $10,000 from the auction with the proceeds benefiting the AAFPM in their effort of raising over one-half million dollars for the Memorial Wall Fund. More information about the AAFPM can be found on their website at www.aafpm.com.
