O'Brien Recalled to Falcons

Springfield, Mass. – The Springfield Falcons, American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning, today announced that defenseman Doug O'Brien has been recalled to the club from the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL.

O'Brien, 20, has registered six points (1g, 5a) and 29 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Falcons this season. The rookie defenseman recorded two penalty minutes and was +2 in three games with Johnstown after being assigned to the team on Jan. 6. The native of St. John's, Newfoundland was selected by the Lightning in the sixth round (192nd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

O'Brien will join the Falcons in time for the club's games this weekend versus the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday and the Worcester IceCats on Saturday at the Springfield Civic Center.
