Monarchs Announce Investing In Our Youth Grant Winners

MANCHESTER, NH – The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, has awarded Investing In Our Youth Grants of $1,000 for the month of December to Manchester's Central High School Crew Club (youth sports team) and Keene Middle School's eighth grade physical science class (school organization), the team announced on Thursday. Central Crew Club is a not-for-profit corporation made up of 77 student athletes. The club does not receive any form of administrative or financial support from the Manchester school system. The Investing In Our Youth Sports Team Grant money will go toward the purchase of rowing oars.

Keene Middle School's eighth grade physical science class currently uses hand written and illustrated lab reports for their curriculum. Physical science teacher Richard D. Marcou plans to use the Investing In Our Youth School Organization Grant money to purchase an LCD projector for the classroom.

The Monarchs Care Foundation awards $24,000 annually as part of its Investing In Our Youth Grant program. A grant of $1,000 is awarded monthly to youth sports teams for use with any team related expenses such as uniforms, equipment, tournament or umpire fees, and/or trophies. In addition, a grant of $1,000 is awarded monthly to school organizations for use with any project related expenses such as books, equipment or computers.

Grants are reviewed on a monthly basis and will remain in consideration for three months. Organizations may apply only once during a 12-month period. The contact person who submits the application must be 21 years of age or older and live in New Hampshire.

The Monarchs longest homestand of the season continues when the Worcester IceCats invade the Verizon Wireless Arena for a 7:35 p.m. contest on Friday, January 14.

Ticket Availability: 50 seats (singles) in the Gold level and 850 seats in the Silver level remain for the Monarchs game against the IceCats on Friday night.
