San Antonio Rampage News Release
MILWAUKEE (March 25, 2015) - Three unanswered third-period goals propelled the Rampage (40-20-5-1) to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Milwaukee Admirals (32-24-5-5) in front of 3,513 at BMO Harris Bradley Center Wednesday. With the win, the Rampage extend their win streak to six games and take over the top spot in the Western Conference with 86 points. The win is San Antonio's first in Milwaukee since Jan. 21, 2011, snapping a seven-game losing streak against the Admirals.
Austin Watson got Milwaukee on the board just 1:28 into the game, and Joe Pendenza made it 2-0 when he took a cross-ice pass from Pontus Aberg and put it past Michael Houser's pads at 17:26 of the opening period.
Colton Sissons gave the Admirals their third unanswered goal of the night at 5:20 of the second period and ended the night for Houser, who was replaced by Sam Brittain after giving up three goals on 17 shots.
Rocco Grimaldi got the Rampage on the scoreboard to open the final stanza. Greg Zanon skated behind the net and found the stick of Grimaldi, whose shot from the right circle beat Marek Mazanec to make it 3-1. Dany Heatley cut the Rampage's deficit to just one at 8:55 with a goal from the slot, and Blake Parlett tied the game at three with a third unanswered goal at 11:40 of the third period to send the Rampage and Admirals to overtime for the second time in their two-game season series.
Neither team could light the lamp in overtime, but goals from Grimaldi and Logan Shaw in the skills competition gave San Antonio a 4-3 shootout win.
Houser made his 11th straight start, and Brittain made his AHL debut, stopping both Milwaukee skaters in the shootout. The Rampage held the Admirals scoreless on three power-play opportunities.
KEY STAT
Heatley has five goals and seven points in 10 games with the Rampage, and both Brickley, who had his fifth two-assist game of the season, and Grimaldi extended point streaks to three games.
The Silver and Black are just one win from tying a season- and franchise- high seven game win streak, last reached Nov. 9-23.
LINEUP NOTES
Brickley and Heatley flanked Grimaldi on the first line. Mark Mancari drew back into the lineup and skated with Shaw and Corban Knight. Zanon paired defensively with Shane O'Brien, Dylan Olsen with Jesse Blacker and Jonathan Racine with Parlett.
Wade Megan was a healthy scratch, and Matt Corrente is not on the three-game road trip due to an upper-body injury.
