GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The Hamilton Bulldogs' (31-25-10-0) American Hockey League-leading penalty kill was a perfect 5-for-5 on Wednesday night and proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win over the Adirondack Flames (31-25-6-2) at Glens Falls Civic Center in Glens Falls, N.Y.
The Bulldogs' PK unit killed a full two-minute 5-on-3 disadvantage midway through the second period, then erased three consecutive Flames' power plays in the third period en route to preserving the 2-1 victory.
Hamilton forward T.J. Hensick opened the scoring at 15:16 of the first period when he tapped a loose puck in the crease over the goal-line for his 17th goal of the season. Forward Eric Tangradi and defenceman Bryan Allen had assists on the marker, which was Hensick's team co-leading 51st point of the year.
Just over two minutes later, Adirondack forward Ben Hanowski tied the game 1-1 when he buried his own rebound in the slot. Defencemen Tyler Wotherspoon and John Ramage assisted on the play.
After a scoreless second period, 'Dogs forward Jake Dowell gave his club a 2-1 lead at 12:13 of the third period when his pass from behind the goal hit a Flames' stick and deflected into the net. Forward Nick Sorkin had the only helper on Dowell's fifth goal of the season, which proved to be the game winner.
Mike Condon made 29 saves on 30 shots for the Bulldogs in the win, while Brad Thiessen stopped 24 of 26 shots for the Flames in the loss.
Hamilton went 0-for-2 on the power play, while Adirondack was 0-for-5 with a man advantage.
The win puts the Bulldogs in the eighth and final playoff spot in the AHL's Western Conference with 10 games to go, with the Flames, Toronto Marlies, Chicago Wolves and Lake Erie Monsters all close behind within striking distance of a playoff spot.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, March 27 when they'll visit the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, N.Y. at 7:05 p.m. The 'Dogs will return home on Thursday, April 2 when they'll host the Chicago Wolves at FirstOntario Centre at 7:30 p.m.
