Rampage sign Chris Neilsen to AHL contract

SAN ANTONIO – Oct. 21, 2004 – San Antonio Rampage Director of Hockey Operations Matt Loughran announced today that the club has signed former National Hockey League (NHL) player Chris Neilsen to an American Hockey League (AHL) contract for the 2004-2005 season.

Upon signing the contract, Neilsen was assigned to the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League (CHL). The Bucks are the CHL affiliate of the San Antonio Rampage.

Neilsen, a 24-year-old from Tanzania, Africa, spent parts of the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL scoring five goals and adding six assists (6-5-11) in 52 games. In his AHL career, Neilsen has scored 33-47-80 in four seasons. Last season, Neilsen spent 72 AHL games with Manitoba, notching 4-7-11 totals.

The Rampage (2-2-0-0) begin a two-game series against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Friday, Oct. 22 at the SBC Center with a 7 p.m. (CDT) face-off. The Rampage conclude the series on Sunday, Oct. 24.
