San Antonio Rampage News Release
TUESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2004 - NORFOLK 2 SAN ANTONIO 0
Travis Scott turned away 36 shots and denied Norfolk on five power- play chances, but Norfolk's Michael Leighton was equally superb as the Rampage fell 2-0.
Scott faced 10 shots in the first period, 13 in the second, and 15 in the third as he was selected as the game's third star.
WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2004 - UTAH 4 SAN ANTONIO
Ryan Jardine helped the Rampage take an early 2-0 over Utah, but the Grizzlies scored four unanswered goals for the win.
Jardine's first-period goal was assisted by Greg Jacina and Gregory Campbell. In the second period, Jardine took a feed from Jay Bouwmeester and sent it along to Eric Beaudoin for two-goal advantage.
Utah chipped away at the Rampage' lead with a goal in the second period and tied the game with their first shot in the third. Later in the third period, Patrick DesRochers allowed only his third goal of the game on 25 shots.
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2004 - HOUSTON 5 SAN ANTONIO 2
Travis Scott began the game and allowed three goals on 17 shots, two of which came via a man-advantage for Houston in the second period. Patrick DesRochers also faced 17 shots in which he made 15 saves.
Offensively for the Rampage, Chris Nielsen scored off a feed from Ryan Jardine as the two hooked up after a Houston turnover.
Gregory Campbell recorded an unassisted goal as his pass to the crease hit a skate in front of the goal and bounced in.
SHOTS FROM THE POINT
Gregory Campbell added a goal and an assist last week, giving him 17 points through 31 games. His points place him second on the Rampage this season and are well ahead of the six that he earned last season at this time.
San Antonio ended a six game in seven night stretch from December 17-23 in which they played four road games and two at home.
The Rampage will end December and begin January with a pair of games with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The games will be just two of the 32 games that San Antonio will play in the two months and will mark games 16 and 17 of the stretch.
The Rampage will wear a special commerative jersey for their Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 games. After the game on New Year's Day, the jerseys will be auctioned off to the public. All proceeds benefit the Spurs Foundation to purchase Rampage tickets for underserved area youth.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
RYAN JARDINE
Jardine averaged a point- per-game last week with one goal and two assists. His three points led the Rampage in scoring last week. On the season, Jardine is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 13 points.
