San Antonio Rampage News Release

San Antonio - The San Antonio Rampage returned home last night, and ended a three-game slide with a shootout win against their rival the Houston Aeros, 5-4, at the AT&T Center.

The Aeros showed no ill-affects from travel difficulties that forced the start of the game to be delayed an hour, as they got on the board first at 3:01 of the first period, when Ryan Hamilton scored with assists by Joey Tetarenko and Alex Leavitt.

The Rampage answered quickly with a power-play goal, the first of two for center Don MacLean, at the 8:20 mark with assists going to Yanick Lehoux and Jeff Taffe, tying the score 1-1.

MacLean, the reining AHL MVP, gave the Rampage their first lead of the night with his second goal just 1:14 into the second period with another power play goal.

The Aeros countered with three un-answered goals, two of which came within a forty-second span by Wyatt Smith and Josh Olson, before the Rampage cut the Aeros' lead to 4-3 with a goal by Logan Stephenson at the 18:22 mark.

The Rampage quickly tied the score at 4-4, 2:13 into the third period with Lehoux's fourth point of the evening. That would be the end of the scoring in the third period and overtime, as both teams were visibly exhausted, as only 16 total shots were taken.

The Rampage fell behind 1-0 in the shootout on a goal by Smith, but the Rampage responded with goals by MacLean and Bill Thomas, and goaltender Philippe Sauve stopped Matt Foy's last chance for the Aeros to give the Rampage the 5-4 victory.

The Rampage now stand at 2-3-0-0, and face the Chicago Wolves (2-2-0-0) on Wednesday, at the AT&T Center.
