Devils fall to Sharks, 6-2

Lowell, MA - The Worcester Sharks (1-2-0-2) scored six straight goals to erase an early deficit and skated to a 6-2 victory over the Lowell Devils (1-2-0-0) at the Tsongas Arena on Sunday evening.

Lowell jumped out of the gates quickly, scoring twice in the first 8:07 of play. Barry Tallackson made it 1-0 Devils just 2:03 into the game. Olli Malmivaara extended the lead with a blast from the blue line that tickled the twine to make it 2-0. It was the first goal of the season for both players. Worcester bounced back with two of their own later in the frame to tie the game. Mathieu Darche notched his league-leadi! ng sixth of the game, having scored in every Sharks game thus far this season, to open the scoring for Worcester and they never looked back.

The go-ahead goal came off the stick of Darche as well, at 13:02 of the second period. Nolan Schaefer stopped all 12 Lowell shots in the period to make it hold up, and stopped 20 shots over the final two frames en route to third star honors.

Worcester added goals by Joe Pavelski at the :45 mark, Tomas Plihal at 5:59 and Aston Rome at 13:18 of the third period. The Sharks made the most of their power play opportunities, converting on three of five chances in the victory. Rookie Jordan Parise suffered the loss for the Devils in his professional debut, stopping 26 shots.

The Devils take to the road for the next three games: October 20th against Portland, October 21st against Worcester, and October 27th against Springfield. They will return home on Saturday, October 28th to complete the home-and-home series against Springfield. Game time is 2:05pm. Tickets are on sale now and start at just $10.
