Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY -- The Albany River Rats on Sunday announced that center Keith Aucoin and left wing Ryan Bayda have been recalled on an emergency basis by the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes placed left wing Andrew Ladd on injured reserve after he suffered an upper-body injury in Carolina's 4-3 win Friday at Atlanta.

Aucoin, 27, had two goals and one assist with 10 penalty minutes in three games with Albany this season. The Waltham, Mass., native was named the 11th captain in River Rats history October 6 by head coach Tom Rowe. He made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in 2005-06, recording one assist in seven games.

Bayda, 25, has appeared in just one of Albany's first three games this season, going scoreless. The Saskatoon, Sask., native re-signed with Carolina after spending the 2005-06 season with Manitoba of the AHL. Last season, after returning from a knee injury, he had 13 goals and 25 assists in 59 games with Manitoba. In 69 career NHL games, all with Carolina, Bayda has recorded seven goals and 13 assists.
