San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Forward Joel Perrault notched his third straight game-winning goal and Josh Tordjman recorded his second shutout in as many nights powering the Rampage to a 1-0 win in front of 9,705 on Saturday night. Eight of the last 10 crowds for the Rampage have exceeded 7,400.
Tordjman shutout Iowa last night 2-0 to tie the franchise record of seven and now holds it all to himself, breaking the tie with Travis Scott.
For Perrault, he scored in his fifth straight and extended his point streak to a team-high nine straight.
After 57 plus minutes of shutout hockey, the Rampage got a breakaway chance and took advantage while playing four-on-four hockey. David Spina picked up the puck in his own defensive zone and fed ahead to Perrault in the neutral zone. Perrault skated across the blue line and fired a wrister top shelf from the top of the right circle past Iowa goalie Jean-Phillippe Levasseur.
The win was the fifth straight for San Antonio, one shy of the franchise record, and seventh in their last eight.
Tordjman, who was recalled by Phoenix on March 4th, has 132 plus minutes of shutout hockey in a Rampage uniform dating back to February 22nd. He stopped all 27 shots and San Antonio was perfect, six for six on the penalty kill.
San Antonio travels to Cleveland on Monday to conclude their suspended game with Lake Erie. The Rampage led the game 1-0 after a period when the game was called due to unsafe ice conditions.
The Rampage finish the season with a three-game set with Houston next weekend. San Antonio travels to Houston on Friday, returns home for their home season finale on Saturday and goes back to Houston to conclude their 2008-09 season.
