Falcons' PP Upends Devils Late, 4-3

Albany Devils News Release

LOWELL, Mass. - Charles Linglet's power play goal with 1:23 left in regulation completed a third-period rally that gave the Springfield Falcons a 4-3 win over the Lowell Devils on Saturday at the Tsongas Arena. The loss left the Devils seven points out of the fourth seed in the Atlantic Division with four to play.

With the Devils holding a 3-1 lead in the second, the Falcons pulled within one on Ryan Potulny's goal with 2:07 left until the intermission. As Jeff Frazee attempted to clear the puck from his crease, Potulny swooped to fire it over the goaltender's shoulder.

As Lowell entered the third trying to maintain their one-goal edge, they did not help their cause by giving Springfield five power play opportunities in the period. The Falcons would take advantage and tie the game at 12:32 when Jordan Eberle dug a puck out of traffic in front and knocked it home.

That set the stage for Linglet's back-breaker with time dwindling down. Skating again on the power play, Rob Schremp sent a pass from the near point that found Linglet down on left post for the deflection past Frazee.

Two goals less than two minutes apart allowed the Devils to open up a 3-1 lead early in the second period. At 2:53 of the period, Patrick Davis kicked a puck to Matt Halischuk, who swept it past the leg pad of Dany Sabourin. Nicklas Bergfors scored his team-leading 22nd goal 1:43 later, firing the puck off the back of the Springfield goalie and into the top shelf.

Barry Tallackson opened up the scoring at 7:20 of the first with his 11th goal of the season. The Falcons used their special teams play to knot the score with 3:09 remaining until the break on Craig McDonald's shorthanded marker.

The Lowell Devils travel to Hartford to face the Wolf Pack on Sunday, April 5 at 4:00 p.m. Listen as Ryan Johnston brings you all of the live action on 980AM-WCAP or at ahllive.com.
