San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage fell 3-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals at the AT&T Center on Saturday night in AHL action. In the regular season opener for each team the Rampage out shot the Admirals 40-26, but were stymied all night long by Milwaukee goalie Drew MacIntyre.
The Rampage out shot the Admirals 9-1 over the open seven minutes of the game, but were unable to put the puck past MacIntyre. San Antonio continued to carry the chances in the frame, but it was the Admirals getting the only goal of the first period as forward Antti Pihlstrom scored on a redirect at 18:56.
In the second period the Rampage drew even. Forward Garth Murray headed a two-on-one rush down the left side and scored on a wrist shot at 7:28. Just under three minutes later former Rampage forward Josh Gratton gave Milwaukee the lead back with a shorthanded tally off a nice feed from forward Cal O'Reilly at 10:12. The Rampage had 16 scoring chances after two periods to just three for the Admirals, but trailed 2-1.
In the third period once again the Rampage carried the action, but were unable to score. The Admirals extended their lead to 3-1 when forward Mike Santorelli tipped in a shot by forward Andreas Thuresson at 12:14. FINAL SCORE Milwaukee 3, San Antonio 1.
MacIntyre stopped 39 of 40 shots and got the win. Al Montoya turned aside 23 of 26 shots and took the loss. San Antonio was 0-9 on the power play, while the Admirals were 0-7. The Rampage out shot Milwaukee 40-26.
The Rampage host the defending Calder Cup Champion Chicago Wolves on Wednesday at the AT&T Center at 7 p.m. It is the first Dollar Dog Night of the season with $1 hot dogs courtesy of 98.5 The Beat.
