Chicago Wolves News Release

HOUSTON---The Chicago Wolves carried a 1-1 tie into overtime in the team's 15th season opener, before dropping an eventual 2-1 decision to the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center on Saturday night. With the clubs deadlocked at one after regulation, Houston left wing Krys Kolanos netted the game-winning tally at the 2:37 mark of the extra frame. Aeros center Morten Madsen's shot from the point went wide of the net, but bounced off the end boards to a waiting Kolanos, who slid the puck into the net past goaltender Ondrej Pavelec. Houston (1-0-0-0) opened the scoring at the 10:35 mark of the opening frame. Defenseman Dane Crowley dumped the puck in from center ice and Pavelec went behind the goal to play it, but the puck caromed off a partition in the glass and into the net to give the Aeros a 1-0 lead. Chicago (0-0-1-0) drew even when left wing Colin Stuart potted his first career power-play marker at 14:18 of the middle frame. Right wing Joe Motzko held the puck down low at the near circle and fired a pass through traffic and Stuart ripped home a one timer past Houston goaltender Nolan Schaefer. Schaefer stopped 27 of 28 shots for Houston, while Pavelec (0-1-0) posted 26 saves in the loss for the Wolves. The Wolves travel to San Antonio for a matchup with the Rampage at the AT&T Center on Wed., Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. The team will return home from a three-game road trip to open its 40-game home slate against the Peoria Rivermen at the Allstate Arena on Sat., Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.
