Monarchs Release Campbell From Tryout

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, released defenseman Andrew Campbell from his amateur tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Campbell, 20, finished second among defensemen on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL with 13 goals, 22 assists and 35 points in 68 games. The 6-foot-4, 208-pound native of Caledonia, Ontario, played in 162 games with the Greyhounds from 2005-08 and recorded 57 points (18-39=57) and 162 penalty minutes. Campbell was selected by the Kings in the third-round (74th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

The Monarchs open their eighth season on the road against the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday, October 11 at 7 p.m. followed by a contest with the Lowell Devils at the Tsongas Arena on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m. before they return to the Verizon Wireless Arena for the home opener against the Devils on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGAM 900/1250 AM and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
