MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, have named center Marty Murray the team captain, and center Gabe Gauthier and defenseman Drew Baganll as alternate captains for the 2008-09 season, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Murray, 33, returns to the Monarchs following one year in Switzerland with the HC Lugano of the National League A. The 5-foot-9, 180-pound native of Deloraine, Manitoba, wore the Monarchs jersey for 34 games during the 2006-07 season and collected 40 points (12-28=40) and 24 penalty minutes. He began the 2006-07 season with the AHL's Philadelphia Phantoms and recorded 15 points (2-13=15) and four penalty minutes in 11 games before the Kings picked him up off of waivers. Murray has 73 points (31-42=73) and 41 penalty minutes in 261 career NHL regular season games with the Kings, Philadelphia, Carolina and Calgary. He was originally selected by Calgary in the fourth-round (96th overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft.

Gauthier, 24, played in three games for the Kings last season, recording zero points and zero penalty minutes. He has played in eight career NHL games, all with the Kings, and has zero points and two penalty minutes. Gauthier is a 5-foot-9, 205-pound native of Torrance, California. He also played in 61 regular season games for Manchester last season, recording 60 points (23-37=60) and 43 penalty minutes. His 37 assists ranked second on the Monarchs and his 60 points were third on the team. He also had 15 power-play goals and five game-winning goals, which both ranked second on the club. In three playoff games for the Monarchs, Gauthier had zero points and four penalty minutes. He was originally signed by the Kings on July 7, 2006. Gauthier wore the captain's "C" for the Monarchs at the end of the 2007-08 season.

Bagnall, 24, made his professional debut with the Monarchs during the 2007-08 season. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of Oakbank, Manitoba, finished his rookie season with 12 points (1-11=12), a plus-4 rating and 115 penalty minutes. Bagnall also played in 10 games with the ECHL's Reading Royals last season and collected three points (1-2=3) and 32 penalty minutes. He served as Captain during his senior season with the St. Lawrence Saints (2006-07). Bagnall signed with the Kings as an unrestricted free agent on August 23, 2007.
