San Antonio Rampage News Release
CLEVELAND (Jan. 24, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage (24-14-4-0) erased a two-goal deficit to force overtime, but ultimately fell to the Lake Erie Monsters (18-16-3-3) 3-2 in front of 14,127 at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night.
Vincent Trocheck tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Rampage, and the Silver and Black scored on their only power-play opportunity of the night.
Dennis Everberg got the Monsters on the board first, tipping in Markus Lauridsen's blast from the blue line 12 minutes into the game.
After a scoreless second period, Lake Erie extended their lead to two, as Stefan Elliott's shot from the slot beat Ellis just 37 seconds into the third. Vincent Trocheck scored his first goal since being reassigned to the Rampage earlier in the week, going short side from the left circle on the power play to make it 2-1 at 2:23 of the final frame.
Garrett Wilson's late tally completed the Rampage comeback, as he deflected a shot by Alex Petrovic into the net to send the game into overtime with the Rampage and the Monsters knotted at two.
Just 1:55 into the extra stanza, Andrew Agozzino picked up the puck off a turnover at the blue line and flipped a shot past Ellis to secure a 3-2 win for the Monsters.
KEY STAT
San Antonio finished with a 39-25 advantage in shots, and Ellis made 22 saves on 25 shots.
