Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators fell 3-2 in overtime to their host Hershey Bears in the final game before the American Hockey League All-Star break. Connor Carrick scored the game-winning tally 54 seconds into the overtime period to give the Bears their 16th victory on home ice this season.
Binghamton struck first 12:31 into the first period when Buddy Robinson corralled a turnover by the Bears and buried his seventh of the year past Philipp Grubauer unassisted. The B-Sens carried the 1-0 lead into the first intermission as Peter Mannino stopped all 14 of Hershey's shots in the opening 20 minutes of play.
Hershey evened the score 1-1 12:36 into the middle frame when Chris Conner rushed past the Binghamton defense to push home his ninth of the season off an assist from Tim Kennedy. Former B-Sen Jim O'Brien gave the Bears their first lead of the night on a power-play goal with less than five minutes to play in the second. Binghamton responded just over 30 seconds later when Carter Camper took a feed from Shane Prince in the slot and went top shelf over Grubauer for his fifth of the year to send the teams tied 2-2 into the final intermission.
Neither team could convert on eight shots traded over the final 20 minutes of regulation forcing the sudden-death overtime period.
Carrick's overtime winner gives the Bears their first victory of the year coming during the 4-on-4 portion of the new overtime format.
