
Rampage Defeated by Heat 5-1

STOCKTON - The San Antonio Rampage (22-23-7-0) fell to the Stockton Heat (20-19-1-2) 5-1 in front of 3,309 at Stockton Arena on Sunday. Spencer Martin stopped a career-high 55 shots, and Garrett Thompson tallied the lone goal for the Silver and Black, who drop to 2-3-0-0 on the Rodeo Road Trip.
Stockton put 21 shots on goal in the first period, tying a season high for shots allowed by the Rampage in a stanza this season, but Martin stood tall in net, keeping the game scoreless after 20 minutes of play.
The Heat scored two goals in a 42 second window early in the second period. Kenny Agostino got the puck off the faceoff and dished it to Freddie Hamilton in the slot for the first marker, and Agostino buried the second tally himself, making it 2-0 in favor of Stockton at 4:37. Both teams were scoreless for the remainder of the period, as the Rampage entered the final frame looking to chip away at Stockton's two-goal lead.
Garrett Thompson gave the Rampage some life with his fourth of the season at 6:29, but Hamilton notched his second of the game 21 seconds later to again extend Stockton's lead to two.
Agostino notched a power-play goal on Stockton's first and only man-advantage opportunity of the night to make it a 4-2 game, and Turner Elson scored an empty-net goal to seal a 5-1 win for the Heat.
The Rampage were scoreless on three power-play opportunities and were outshot 55-25.
Notes
Spencer Martin set an AHL career high with 55 saves... Andrew Agozzino played in his 250th AHL game... the Rampage allowed a season high 55 shots on goal, the most sine allowing 48 shots against the Texas Stars on Dec. 26.
Lineup Notes
Agozzino, playing in his second game since returning from an injury, moved up to the second line, playing alongside Nick Drazenovic and Reid Petryk. Michael Schumacher drew into the lineup, skating with Colin Smith and Patrick Bordeleau on the fourth line. Martin made his 12th start of the season.
