Frederick Keys News Release

Salem, VA -- Luis Ramirez allowed just one run on three hits over 7.0 innings to help the Keys defeat the Salem Avalanche and end a six-game losing streak, the longest losing streak the Keys have had in two years.

Ramirez (3-4) struck out six and allowed just six baserunners to earn the victory for the Keys. Recently acquired KJ Hendricks and Paco Figueroa provided production from the top of the lineup, combining for five hits, scoring both of the Keys runs.

The Keys struck in the top of the first inning as Hendricks and Figueroa led the game off with back-to-back singles and then moved ahead on a throwing error by Chad Reineke attempting to pickoff Figueroa at first base. Each runner would score on consecutive groundouts from Jarod Rine and Dustin Yount to give the Keys a 2-0 lead.

Ervin Alcantara got the Avalanche on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a single and later scored on Francisco Caraballo's sacrifice fly. But that would be the end of the scoring, as Ramirez and Reineke each completed the next six frames without allowing a run.

Tony Neal would come on to throw the last 1.1 innings to earn his second save of the season.

Reineke (5-5) allowed just one earned run on seven hits over 7.0 innings, but took the loss. Jeff Wigdahl tossed 2.0 scoreless innings for the Avalanche in relief.

The Keys and Avalanche will wrap up their three game series on Wednesday night, as LHP David Haehnel will take the hill for the Keys.

The Keys will return to Harry Grove Stadium on Thursday night to take on the Potomac Nationals, with RHP Radhames Liz taking the hill for the Keys. Thursday will also be Super Hero Night presented by Beyond Comics. Fans attending the game dressed in a super hero costume will be receive $2 off the purchase of their General Admission ticket at the Keys Box Office.
