Kinston Indians News Release

The Kinston Indians won their 40th game of the season in grand style, beating Wilmington 9-5 Tuesday night in Wilmington, Delaware. The Indians struck hard out of the gates, scoring six runs in the first inning. Trevor Crowe started off the big inning, bringing in Argenis Reyes with an RBI single. Wyatt Toregas kept it going with a two RBI double, scoring Brandon Pinckney and Crowe. Stephen Head opened the floodgates with a three run homer, his sixth, deep to right field scoring Toregas and Jordan Brown. The K-Tribe would bang out 13 hits in the game, their eighth win in twelve games this season against Wilmington.

The K-Tribe got another great pitching performance from Scott Lewis, who did not pick up the win, but went four innings, giving up just one hit while striking out four. His ERA is now a league leading 0.73. Chris Niesel (3-0), picked up his third win of the season in relief. The K-Tribe will send Jensen Lewis to the hill tomorrow for game three of the three game series at 7:05 PM. Kinston will then return home to Grainger Stadium on Thursday, opening up a four game series again Myrtle Beach.

Notes:

* The K-Tribe's magic number is now down to 5, but could be 4 by morning, depending on what Winston-Salem does in game 2 of the double-header still going on at 10:15PM

* Salem is now mathematically eliminated from contention for a Southern Division Title in the first half of the season

* Outfielder Jordan Brown is now on a 12 game hitting streak and 22 game consecutive on base streak, the two are the second longest on the Indians this season
