Raley Field Named One of the "Most Vegetarian-Friendly Minor League Ballparks"
June 17, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Sacramento River Cats News Release
WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Raley Field has been named one of the top ten "Most Vegetarian-Friendly Minor League Ballparks" of 2013 by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, citing new vendor Island Noodles, the tasty sausage-less sausage, and the hearty black bean burger among the ballpark's vegetarian-friendly fare.
For the seventh-straight season, PETA has compiled a list of their top 10 MVPs, or "mouthwatering vegetarian plates." PETA's official blog-The PETA Files-released the list last week.
The full transcript of Raley Field's entry reads as follows: "There are 21-count 'em-different types of veggies in Raley Field's famous stir-fry, but if you're a River Cats fan in search of even more variety, try the vegetarian sausage with grilled onions and peppers, the chipotle black-bean burger, the baked potato, the vegetable sandwich, or a tostada salad with beans."
The aforementioned stir fry is a creation of Island Noodles, the newest Raley Field food vendor. The rest of the dishes are served up daily by Ovations Food Services, the official concessionaire at Raley Field.
River Cats fans can try all of these culinary options at Monday night's 7:05 p.m. game against the Tacoma Rainiers. After Monday's contest, the team returns home for a season-long 11-game homestand from Saturday, June 22, through Wednesday, July 3.
