FRESNO, Calif. - Chris Heston has been named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 10-16, the league office announced today. The Fresno Grizzlies right-hander is the first Fresno pitcher to earn the weekly award this season.

Heston, 25, threw his first career shutout on June 13 against Tucson in his only start of the week. The East Carolina product matched his season-high with nine strikeouts, including three in the ninth inning. He allowed just five hits over the nine innings pitched. It was the first shutout thrown by a Grizzlies pitcher since Barry Zito in 2011.

The Florida native is in his first season at Triple-A. Over 14 starts, the Giants' 12th round pick from the 2009 Draft holds a 6-5 record with an accompanying 5.09 ERA. His team-leading 74 strikeouts are tied for third in the PCL.

Heston is the first Grizzlies pitcher to earn the PCL Pitcher of the Week award since Yusmeiro Petit was tabbed with the honor for the week of May 21-27, 2012.

Heston will make his 15th start of the season on Tuesday when the Grizzlies take on the Reno Aces in the first game of an eight-game road trip. Fresno, meanwhile, wraps up their eight-game homestand on Monday with a 7:05 pm game against Salt Lake.
