Reno Eases by Padres

The Reno Aces compiled a season-high 18 runs and 20 hits to defeat the Tucson Padres 18-7 Sunday at Kino Stadium.

The Aces got off to a quick start in the top of the first, sending 12 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs. Matt Davidson hit a three run home run and Chris Owings hit an opposite-field grand slam in the rally. The Aces added two more runs in the second on RBI hits from Juan Rivera and Ed Easley. Owings, Easley and Mike Jacobs all finished the night with three hits for Reno.

The Padres scored their first run in the third when Daniel Robertson came home from third on a wild pitch. Jesus Merchan's RBI single to left in the fourth cut the Aces lead to 11-2. The Aces tacked on six runs in the fifth highlighted by Jacobs' fourth home run in four days. Tucson brought home two runs in the bottom of the fifth on RBI singles from Cody Decker and Jonathan Galvez. Brandon Allen and Decker finished off the scoring for the Padres with home runs in the seventh and ninth innings.

Nate Adcock (4-4) earned the win in his debut for Reno, going five innings scattering six hits, three earned runs, and three walks. Adcock also produced the first hit of his career with a single in the first inning and ended the game 2-for-4. The Padres starter Robbie Erlin (5-2) was tagged for 11 runs on 11 hits in two innings of work.
