Reno Aces News Release
TUCSON, Ariz.-The Aces pushed across nine runs in the first inning on Sunday night, en route to an 18-7 victory over the Tucson Padres at Kino Stadium.
The first six Reno batters reached base to begin the game, as the club mounted the most successful first inning in franchise history. A three-run homer off the bat of Matt Davidson and a grand slam by Chris Owings, Reno's first of the year, helped propel the Aces to an early 9-0 lead.
Reno tacked on two more runs in the second, before the Padres successfully shutout the Aces through the next two innings. The Aces bats came alive again in the fifth, as a six-run frame extended Reno's lead to 17-2. Mike Jacobs continued his hot streak, homering for the fourth-straight game.
Seven Reno players recorded a multi-hit game, including RHP Nate Adcock, who had just one professional at bat prior to tonight's contest. Each player in the starting lineup recorded at least one hit for the Aces.
The 18 runs and 20 hits by the Aces set new season-highs for the club.
In his Aces debut, Adock gave up four runs-three earned-on six hits through 5.0 innings, while striking out three to earn the win. The Aces bullpen allowed three runs on seven hits across the final 4.0 frames.
The series wraps up on Monday night at Kino Stadium, as the Aces look to earn their second series victory of the season. RHP Mike Bolsinger (1-1, 6.23 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Padres will counter with RHP Anthony Bass (0-1, 12.34 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
The Aces return home for another eight game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies and Tucson Padres beginning Tuesday. Tickets are on sale for the upcoming homestand, and all Aces home games, at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
