Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - Newly-minted All-Star selection Forrest Snow provided his third consecutive quality start to propel the Tacoma Rainiers to a 4-2 victory over the Las Vegas 51s on Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.
Snow worked 7.0 innings of one-run ball for Tacoma, allowing just four hits and walking three while striking out six. Over his last seven appearances (six starts), Snow has gone 6-0 with a 1.56 ERA.
Tyler Olson worked 1.1 innings in relief of Snow, allowing one run on two hits with a pair of strikeouts. Tony Zych earned his first save of the season after recording the final two outs of the game.
Carlos Rivero, Jesus Montero, Justin Ruggiano, and Stefen Romero all recorded a pair of hits for the Rainiers.
Ruggiano got the Rainiers on the board early with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning that scored Chris Taylor from second base. Taylor set up an RBI single for Montero in the third inning after drawing a leadoff walk, stealing second, and advancing to third on a throwing error - the base knock gave Montero 61 RBI on the season and pushed the Tacoma lead to 2-0.
Matt Reynolds led off the Las Vegas half of the fourth inning with a leadoff solo home run to right field, cutting the Rainiers lead in half at 2-1.
Back-to-back one run innings in the fifth and sixth for Tacoma extended the club's lead to 4-1. T.J. Rivera made the final push when he led off the eighth inning for Las Vegas with a triple and came around to score when Reynolds grounded out to shortstop.
The Rainiers (40-40) send right-hander Jordan Pries (3-1, 4.64) to the mound as they aim for the series victory against Las Vegas (45-35) tomorrow, July 2. The 51s will counter with southpaw Darin Gorski (4-6, 5.66). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
