Bees Drop 15-Inning Marathon

July 2, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Adam Duvall singled in the game winning run, as the Sacramento River Cats edged the Salt Lake Bees 4-3 in fifteen innings on Wednesday night. Brett Jackson led off the inning with a single to right and was sacrificed to second. Kurt Spomer (1-1) intentionally walked Ryan Lollis to set up runners at first and second. Before throwing his first pitch to Kevin Frandsen, Spomer balked to move the runners up to second and third. Frandsen was intentionally walked to load the bases. Bees' manager Dave Anderson set up a five man infield, but Duvall lined a 1-0 pitch to left to end the game.

Salt Lake had taken a 3-0 lead with one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Alfredo Marte and a two run single by Alex Yarbrough in the seventh, but the River Cats tied it up with two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth. Yarbrough, Marte and Grant Green each had two hits to lead the Bees, who have now played a PCL leading 28 games that have been decided by one run. They are 10-18 in those games. Salt Lake starter Drew Rucinski tossed five scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
