Tacoma Rainiers News Release

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Rainiers stumbled late and fell to the Fresno Grizzlies 6-4 in the club's season finale at Chukchansi Park on Monday afternoon.

The Rainiers held a 4-2 lead through six innings before surrendering a four-run frame to the Grizzlies in the bottom of the seventh. Juan Ciriaco, Todd Linden and Roger Kieschnick each hit RBI-singles with one out that put Fresno up 5-4. Ryan Lollis rounded out the frame with a double that plated Linden one out later.

Infielder Carlos Triunfel was responsible for giving Tacoma an early 3-0 advantage in the top of the second. After Alex Liddi drew a walk and Mike Wilson hit a single to lead off the inning, Triunfel plated both with a double to left field. He eventually scored the Rainiers third run of the frame when catcher Brandon Bantz grounded into a double play two batters later.

The Tacoma lineup combined to collect 11 hits in the contest. The third baseman Liddi led the club after going 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run that led off the sixth inning. Triunfel and outfielder Darren Ford each turned in two-hit efforts.

First baseman Mike Carp went 2-for-4 in the seventh game of his Major League rehab assignment with the Rainiers. Dating back to July 23, Carp has hit safely in each of his last eight games wearing a Rainiers uniform.

Right-handed reliever Brian Sweeney (6-4) was dealt the loss after surrendering four runs on four hits through two innings of work out of the bullpen.

Starter Danny Hultzen allowed two runs on two hits over 4.1 innings in his 12th start with Tacoma this season. The left-hander struck out three batters and walked three.
