Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Albuquerque, NM - Tyler Ogle made his Triple-A debut a rather memorable one, as he collected three hits and drove in every run as Albuquerque downed Omaha, 4-3, Monday afternoon in the last game of the regular season at Isotopes Park. The Storm Chasers finished the 2012 campaign with an 83-61 record, marking their third-highest single-season win total in franchise history, and will open the post-season against the Isotopes Wednesday night at Werner Park.
The Storm Chasers tallied first for the first time in the series in the first inning when shortstop Dee Gordon lost a Clint Robinson pop up in the sun allowing Jason Bourgeois to score. The lead was short-lived as Ogle, who had never played above the Class-A level prior to Monday, singled home a pair of runs in his first Triple-A at-bat in the second inning to put the hosts in front. The runs were charged to Omaha starter Nate Adcock, who allowed four hits and walked one in his two innings of work.
Omaha rallied for a pair of two-out runs in the third to regain the lead when Mitch Maier singled home Derrick Robinson and then scored after successive singles by Wil Myers and Clint Robinson. The hosts got the game tied in the fourth against Blaine Hardy on an RBI hit by Ogle that plated Elian Herrera, who drew a lead off walk.
Tony Gwynn opened the home sixth with a double and scored the decisive run on Ogle's last hit of the day. Hardy suffered the loss after giving up a pair of runs on six hits while walking one and fanning four over three innings.
Francisco Felix worked three shutout frames in relief for the 'Topes before he was lifted with two runners on and two out in the ninth and replaced by Scott Rice, who struck out Maier to end the game and send the Chasers to their 33rd loss in 72 road contests.
The American Conference Championship Series begins with Omaha right-hander Jake Odorizzi taking the mound against Albuquerque right-hander Fernando Nieve. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:45 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone Two, The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
