Reno Aces News Release
RENO, Nev.-Tyler Bortnick singled home Wladimir Sutil with the game-winning run in the ninth Monday afternoon, as the Reno Aces completed the series sweep of the Tucson Padres with their third-straight walk-off victory in the regular-season finale at Aces Ballpark.
Deadlocked at 1-1 since the fourth inning, Sutil started the rally with a one-out double in the ninth. After an intentional walk to Tyler Kuhn, Bortnick finished the proceedings with a run-scoring single to right off Neil Wagner.
With the victory, Reno finishes the regular season with a franchise-record 81 victories and its second-straight Pacific North Division title. The Aces now move on to the postseason, where they'll meet the Sacramento River Cats in the Pacific Conference Championship Series.
Aces starter Joe Martinez took a no decision Monday, sacattering just a run on three hits over 7.0 innings of work. Out of the bullpen, Jensen Lewis worked a scoreless eighth, and Jonathan Albaladejo (5-3) earned the win with a spotless ninth.
Wagner (4-2) took the loss for the Padres.
Nine different Aces batters had one hit apiece for Reno on the day.
